CHARACTER
NAME: The Crystal Exarch, aka G’raha Tia
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV
CANON POINT: 5.2
AGE: Approx. 324
BACKGROUND: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/G%27raha_Tia

PERSONALITY:
Drive - In his youth, G’raha was a man of ambition. His desire to learn the truth about his eye and unearth the secrets of ancient Allag led him to the scholarly nation of Sharlayan and from there, the Students of Baldesion. His experience with the Sons of Saint Coinach and the Crystal Tower saw this ambition answered only to be immediately replaced by another: to preserve the Crystal Tower and see it be used as a beacon of hope once more. And, of course, his entire plan to unwrite history and save the Warrior of Light… There is no rest for this man and there are no lengths he won’t go to in order to see his goals reached, even if it means resorting to secrecy and lies. Basically he’s a Slytherin and I will fight people on this.

Cheek - Though this trait was stronger when he was younger than it is now but the Exarch can be still very cheeky. For all his benevolent wisdom as the Crystal Exarch he is still bold, having learned his limits and pushing right up to the edge of them when it suits him. We see him like this especially in dealing with Ranjit (hiding the Scions with magic in the Occular and lying to Ranjit’s face about it with a smile; teleporting the Scions right out from underneath Ranjit’s nose and pointing out that they’re going to Il Mheg as he knows he won’t be able to easily follow) and Vauthry (sending an illusion to answer Eulmore’s invitation as he knew it was a trap but still taking the opportunity to attempt reasoning with the man one more time).

Leadership - This is something G’raha had to learn but it’s clear he’s learned it well. As the Exarch he found himself as the founder and leader of the Crystarium, a settlement that grew into a stable city-state while the First stood on the brink of ruin. G’raha himself would probably give more credit to the Crystal Tower itself as the Crystarium would not have been able to find success without the power it provides, but he is the one who gives the people hope and inspires them to continue on fighting, even through generations. He takes a very hands-off approach, preferring to lead by word and deed rather than giving orders whenever possible.

Adventure - For all his worldly demeanor, the Exarch loves a good adventure. It is the one thing that he loves but rarely allows himself to do, his responsibilities as the Crystal Exarch keeping him occupied most of the time. In the leadup to Mt. Gulg, he made a point to personally come and help, joining the WoL to meet the Dwarves and gain their help. Knowing that the end of his plan was finally coming and thus his death, I believe the Exarch chose to do this not only to ensure everything went well and to be close by when the moment came, but to have one last chance to go on an adventure with the WoL, even if it was a modest one. Later on his excitement over joining the WoL in exploring the Grand Cosmos to find Beq Lugg and ask for his help was obvious enough to be commented on by Y’shtola.

Altruism - Taking inspiration from his hero, G’raha cannot turn his back on those in need. The Crystarium welcomes all, asking only that they be willing to do their fair share of work. He himself adopted Lyna after both her parents were lost to Sin Eaters, becoming like a grandfather to her. The pair are still close though they maintain a professional relationship whenever in the public eye. He agreed to fulfill the wish of Doga and Unei, inheriting both the Crystal Tower and the promise that it would one day be used for the good of all. He was ready and willing to die in order to save both the Warrior of Light and the First as well, having that be part of his intended plan for (presumably) decades.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Royal Eye of Allag - The royal bloodline of Allag was gifted to G’raha Tia’s ancestor and strengthened by the Allagan clones Doga and Unei. This allows full control over the Crystal Tower as well as a wealth of knowledge on the late Allagan empire including how to use the Tower and the artifacts within. The Crystal Tower itself is a massive structure that’s primary use was as a power source

’Immortality’ - By binding himself to the Crystal Tower the Exarch was able to extend his life effectively indefinitely though at a cost: leaving the Tower weakens him and the further and longer he is away the worse this weakness becomes. Eventually he will not be able to leave the Tower at all. It’s this connection to the Tower and it’s abundance of aether that allows him to cast the potent magic he does. While in Prismatica, Chroma will serve as a substitute for this energy source.

All-Rounder - Whether he draws on Allagan knowledge or did a lot of training in his spare time for the past century, the Exarch is a versatile combatant. He is able to heal allies, cast damaging spells, and even summon a sword and shield out of the aether in order to stand on the front lines. Though we do not see him use one during Shadowbringers it is probably safe to say that he hasn’t forgotten how to use a bow either. Relying on Chroma rather than the Crystal Tower will limit how much spell casting he will be able to do at a given time.

Riftwalker - Though he is capable of fighting in a number of ways he prefers to act as a mage. He’s able to cast utilitarian magic such as teleportation (with the help of an artifact from the Tower), glamour (invisibility and projecting an image of himself from a distance), and summoning living beings across the Rift (allowing travel from one shard of Hydaelyn to another), a normally fatal endeavor. This skill took time to fully master but by the end of Shadowbringers we see him able to summon seven other heroes, all at once, in order to help the Warrior of Light confront Hades in the final battle. Obviously, this last one will be nerfed completely.

INVENTORY:
- One fancy staff
- One miniature teleportation node (non functional)
- One letter opener that looks sort of like a fish
