[ From how a frown briefly takes Six's features, it is clear that the Exarch's reaction is not appropriate. As a result, Six leans forward and puts his hand on the other man's shoulder; he is taller than him, but not overmuch, seeing as they are both Miqo'te. ]
Listen.
It is of vital importance that you and I make this short journey incognito.
[ Which explains why, when he releases the Exarch's shoulder, he reaches into the pack on his back and retrieves a second frog suit.
This one is dyed black, in the name of good taste. ]
[ If it were possible for the Exarch's eyes to grow larger, well, Six is finding a way. ]
I see. If I may offer an alternative...a glamour would be more effective.
[ It may be telling that the Exarch's not said no to the idea. He has no idea where Six wants to take him but he's fair sure that he'd be game. But...is the suit truly necessary? ]
You'll recall the spell I used to hide you and the others from Ran'jit? It would be a simple matter to use it again.
[ It would also mean he wouldn't have to undress. ]
[ Six's pinched face shows exactly what he thinks of that idea. ]
I admit, after Ran'jit, I don't have complete faith in glamours. A layer of cloth may be infinitely simpler but simplicity has a certain reliability to it, no?
[ The Exarch may not be undressing, but Six certainly is.
With his frog head under one arm, he begins to loosen the collar of his Ravel attire, letting the over-cloak fall to the floor. He seems...terribly serious about all this still. ]
Our destination is a location just off the courtyard, if you are concerned about time spent in your disguise.
[ Admittedly, Ran'jit was able to see through the spell...that had been the Exarch's mistake in underestimating the man. But if they're trying to hide from everyday citizens then a glamour should be enough. Yet the Exarch lets his protests go, ears drooping slightly as he takes the frog-head in hand.
They perk right back up at the sound of cloth hitting the floor, pink spreading across his cheeks as he realizes what Six is doing. The frog head is dropped quickly over his head, obscuring his vision before any more clothes come off. ]
I...I see your point, Six. If you would be willing to wait for me outside...?
[ The Exarch's swiftness with his frog head is timely: Six does not actually stop. ]
Of course.
One moment.
[ The rustling implies that he finishes getting undressed, and then dressed again, with all the leisure of a man that does not have the convenience of a magicked armory chest. When he is finished, his regular gear is spirited away to said chest, to be recalled shortly, provided the Exarch makes good on this. ]
I will be outside.
[ His response is slightly muffled.
And there is a degree of squeaking as he goes to wait in the hall. ]
[ The mouth of the frog suit opens, he realizes, in order to allow him to see. He gets exactly one glimpse of Six's bare calves and the swaying tip of his tail before the Exarch quickly clamps the mouth shut to boil over in embarrassment. ]
...see you shortly...
[ This is revenge. It has to be. For something. Maybe those crystals he'd sent Six and the others after in order to break the Crystal Tower's seal? It had seemed like it would be a bothersome chore...which is partially why, he remembers with no small amount of wincing, G'raha Tia had send the Warriors of Light to do it in the first place.
For a moment he is seriously tempted to use a glamour anyway. Either to render himself invisible or maybe to pretend to wear the suit? But, no...if Six were to find out he'd be disappointed...
And so after an uncomfortable length of time a second pair of squeaking footsteps approaches the door and steps through. A frog stands there looking exceedingly uncomfortable, the Exarch's robes and staff left behind--he feels especially bare without the latter. ]
You mentioned our destination being close, did you not...?
[ The (black) frog's head does much to hide Six's expression.
That is good, because it is an expression of triumph. Some doubt had been cast in his direction as to whether or not the Exarch, polite and willing to please as he is, would go along with Six's schemes. Xieathe in particular had pointed out that if Six found himself ported to some other Shard, he would be entirely deserving of it.
But nevermind that.
His tail, tucked inside the suit - it would give him away otherwise, wouldn't it? - gives a flick-flick of happiness. ]
Yes, very close.
Follow me.
[ Down the hall, then down the stairs, and right out into the main courtyard he goes, hanging a hard right as soon as he hits the stones of the primary thoroughfare.
[ He can only nod and fall in line, bright green trailing after black. At least his suit isn't red or blue. It would be too obvious if it were...or maybe the fact that Six was seen entering the Tower with two suits and now two mystel sized frogs are walking out is enough to give them away.
It would explain all the staring. Wicked white he prays Lyna doesn't spot them like this. He'll never hear the end of it.
Still the Exarch follows, only stumbling briefly at the sudden turn--it's hard to see out of the suit's mouth--before catching up. His own tail ought to be used to being hidden yet now it keeps twitching anxiously and he can only hope the movement isn't noticeable. ]
Six...? [ A whisper. ] Where exactly are we going?
But at least Six had not been untruthful about the distance: he rounds the wide stairs just before the Tower and travels along in the structure's shadow, one hand on the wall as he searches for...ah, there it is.
A little indentation, there in the wall. ]
I found a secret passage.
There are guardians inside, ones I don't fancy fighting. So we are going to be sneaky about this, as I have a suspicion they do not recognize non-person shapes as actual living beings.
[ Well, in his defense, the whole frog suit thing was very jarring.
The suit's expression is not at all suited for how the Exarch is feeling at this moment. Glassy eyes and a wide smile look from Six to the indentation, the bulbous shape of it dipping oddly as he Exarch inside tilts his head. He knows the Tower better than any living soul...but it's a vast and deeply complicated miracle of magical engineering. He knows what this passage is for and where it leads, he's sure of it. He only can't recall the specifics of it off the top of his head. Given a bit of time (and a chance to search through the Tower's functions from within) he'd know and there'd be no need for any of this.
And yet, as embarrassing as the trappings of it are...it's beginning to feel a bit exciting. Like another chance at an adventure with one of the Warriors of Light, now of Darkness too. When he thinks of it that way how could he have possibly considered refusing? ]
Only a suspicion? [ At last the Exarch is finding his smile, hopefully coming through in his tone. ] Is this to be how you intend to test your hypothesis, Six?
[ And yet the Exarch reaches out towards the indentation, the Tower reacting instantly to it's master, and with a surprisingly quiet sound for solid crystal a hidden doorway reveals itself and slides open. ]
[ He expected no less from the Crystal Exarch, however, and it is with equal parts relish and excitement that he glances down the freshly opened tunnel. A scent like dust and metal wafts out, as well as something he can't quite describe: does crystal have a smell? If crystal were to smell, it would perhaps smell like this.
Beyond are softly blinking lights. Corridors lit in hues of green and yellow. A distant, constant hum.
Six returns his smile. He can't see it, but he can hear it. ]
This is how I intend to do a little exploring.
[ It is how he intends to have an adventure, one that the Exarch can join without fear for his own constitution. ]
[ Aether can have a smell in sufficient quantities, it tingles at the back of the throat and lingers, leaving one dizzy if it's thick enough on the air. If crystal has a scent it would be closest to that. Yet an unexpected boon of the suits is that they filter the air somewhat, keeping the eons worth of dust from overwhelming as the pair squeak through.
The Exarch does as Six suggests, allowing himself a moment of feeling chuffed at impressing the Warrior even a little, as the passage gradually opens up into a larger chamber. ]
These guardians... [ A whisper, just enough for the other miqo'te to hear. ] ...what did they look like?
[ And are they the kind to detect the constant squeaking, is the unspoken question. ]
[ And indeed, strange Allagan amalgamations seems to have been let loose within the deeper, more labyrinthine sections of the Crystal Tower, roaming in all their bio-mechanical glory. Six's experience in the Binding Coils has given him fuuuuuulll reason to just want to avoid them outright.
He inches close to a railway, pointing down at crossing paths that lead down and down into some humming depth. Such creatures roam up and down them. ]
I know they have sensors instead of eyes. They detect motion and scan their surroundings for threats.
he deserves bettter than this man
